Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives Participates in The Basketball Tournament Day of Giving

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives today joined The Basketball Tournament (TBT) to kick off the Day of Giving with a ribbon cutting in Baltimore. This year, the Day of Giving will include the Global 1000 Baltimore Job and Workforce Development Fair, the “Healthy City” Health and Wellness Fair, and community transformation projects in regions throughout Baltimore City.

“We are thrilled that The Basketball Tournament has returned to Baltimore again this year to not only hold their semi-finals and final game, but also host the Day of Giving,” said Steve McAdams, Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives. “Last year’s Day of Giving was an incredible success with over 300 individuals hired on the spot at the Global 1000 Job and Workforce Development Fair during the Day of Giving, hundreds of Marylanders served during the “Healthy City” Health and Wellness Fair, and community beautification throughout Baltimore.”

TBT is an annual national 5-on-5 single-elimination basketball tournament where teams compete for a $2 million winner take all prize. Eighteen teams are selected from 4 regions (Northeast, Midwest, South, West) across the country, with seventy-two teams participating in the tournament.
