Governor Larry Hogan Presents Video for 37th Annual Governor’s Service Awards, Honors Outstanding Maryland Service and Volunteerism

18 Groups, Individuals Recognized for Leading Their Communities Through Service 

WHAT: Governor Hogan will present a video for the 37th Annual Governor’s Service Awards on November 19, 2020. In the weeks following, the Governor’s Office on Service & Volunteerism will highlight awardees on their social media channels. 

Each year, the Governor’s Office on Service & Volunteerism recognizes the volunteer contributions of exceptional Marylanders and Maryland organizations. Eighteen honorees will be recognized in 14 categories for their commitment to strengthening Maryland communities. During this difficult time, the Office believes it’s more important than ever to recognize those who are rising up to serve and volunteer, to persevere and strengthen our communities.

The honorees include:

  • Pandemic Response Champion: Older Adults Feeding Program (Baltimore City), Maryland Food Bank (Statewide), Feed the Kids (Cecil)
  • Emerging Leader: Kevin Tu (Prince George’s)
  • First Responder: David Johnson (Anne Arundel)
  • Faith-Based: Kendra Smith (Montgomery)
  • Youth: Trevor Khouzami (Baltimore City)
  • AmeriCorps Alum: Hannah Jacobs (Frederick)
  • National Service: Candy Montenegro (Statewide)
  • Lifetime Achievement: Glenn Porter (Harford), Vivien Hsueh (Montgomery), Luther Shepherd (Wicomico)
  • Veteran: Zachery Deuyour (Anne Arundel)
  • Small Business: ANGARAI (Statewide)
  • Group/Team: Achieve Success Together (Howard)
  • Individual: Shari Ostrow Scher (Frederick)
  • Nonprofit Volunteer Program: Weekend Backpacks (Baltimore City)
  • Government Employee/Agency: Maryland Defense Force (Statewide)
