Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism Partners with M&T Bank and Baltimore Ravens to Honor Youth Volunteers

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism today joined M&T Bank and the Baltimore Ravens to announce the kickoff of the 19th annual Honor Rows Program. The Honor Rows Program recognizes youth groups and organizations who have provided extraordinary volunteer service in communities throughout Maryland. Award recipients receive up to 100 tickets to one of the nine Ravens home games during the 2018-2019 season, an Honor Rows T-shirt for all participants, a pre-game on-field visit, and in-game recognition on the RavensVision board.

“This is one of our most exciting programs because we get to do something for kids that a surprising number of people never get to experience,” said Van Brooks, Director of the Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism. “Bringing the kids to a Ravens game is an exhilarating experience and we are pleased to recognize those who took their time to think of others, giving their time and energy to supporting their communities.”

Since the beginning of the program, over 12,000 youth have been honored from various organizations. To qualify, organizations must complete an application and provide a 100-word essay describing their volunteer service. The groups are then evaluated based on the match of their mission to the community’s needs, number of people reached, and measurable impact that was detailed in their application. Honorees are selected by a panel of youth service leaders with the assistance of the Governor’s Office of Service and Volunteerism, the Baltimore Ravens, and M&T Bank.
