Welcome to the Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives
The Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives (GOCI) is dedicated to fostering a more inclusive Maryland by actively connecting residents with valuable economic, volunteer, and human service opportunities. Our mission is to bridge the gap between Marylanders and the resources available through various government, business, and nonprofit partners. By promoting collaboration and engagement, we empower individuals and communities to thrive.
GOCI plays a vital role in conducting community affairs and enhancing civic engagement. We strive to ensure that every Marylander feels heard, valued, and involved in the decision-making processes that affect their lives.
Our office houses several key initiatives and commissions that focus on serving diverse populations:
Governor’s Ethnic and Cultural Commissions: These commissions serve as a voice for various ethnic and cultural groups in Maryland, ensuring their needs and perspectives are represented in state policies and initiatives.
Faith-Based Outreach: This initiative fosters partnerships with faith-based organizations to engage communities and provide essential resources, support, and services to those in need.
Immigrant Affairs: Our Immigrant Affairs program works to ensure that immigrants in Maryland have access to the resources and support necessary for successful integration into their communities.
LGBTQIA+ Commission: This commission advocates for the rights and needs of the LGBTQIA+ community in Maryland, promoting policies and programs that foster equality and inclusivity.
At GOCI, we are committed to building a stronger, more connected Maryland. Together, we can create a brighter future for all residents by ensuring access to vital resources, promoting community engagement, and celebrating the rich diversity that makes our state unique.
